Imphal East District has a good road communication. The district has no rail network and hence communication is entirely dependent on roads. The District is connected with N.H. 39, N.H. 53 and N.H. 150.The total road lenth in the district is 2020.6 Kms. The break-up of road length by types is as follows-National Highway- 32.97 Kms, state highway-60.25 Kms, Municipallity road-134.33Kms, Inter village road-1793.05 Kms.
By Air to Imphal
Imphal Tulihal Airport is located about 8km from the heart of the City and is well connected directly from the major cities of India namely Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Guwahati and major cities of North Eastern States on daily basis with the Domestic Air services like Air India, Indigo, Air Asia etc. Other major cities of India is connected to Imphal via Kolkata/Guwahati.
By Bus to Imphal
- From Guwahati daily on the NH 27, NH 29 and NH 2 via Dimapur and Kohima many private buses available.
- From Dimapur daily on the NH 2 via Kohima Manipur many private buses available.
- From Silchar daily on the NH 37 via Jiribam many private buses available.
By Train to Imphal
There is no direct train service to Imphal. But travellers can travel upto Guwahati or Dimapur (nearest Train Station from Imphal) and then rest by bus or by air.
