Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat-Imphal East

Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat-Imphal East was started as a project of the Government of Manipur to facilitate increase patient care services and to increase the number of doctors for providing better health care for the state.

The Institute was permitted to admit 100 MBBS students from the academic session 2010-11 vide letter No. MCI No. 34(41)/2010-Mci/907 dated 17/7/2010. It was recognized as a full fledged Medical College vide Notification No. U.12012/224/2015-ME(P-II) issued by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India dated 17th April 2015. Further, the Government of India has granted Letter of Permission (LOP) to start Post-Graduate courses in 12 different subjects.

Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) has 576 beds which include 526 teaching bed and 50 non-teaching beds and the institute has 22 departments.

Management

In order to give relative freedom to the administrative process a Society was formed on 18th December 2007. The name of the Society shall be “Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences Society, Imphal, Manipur” . It was registered under the Manipur Societies Registration Act, 1989 bearing registration No. 312/M/SR/2007. The general body of the society shall be known as Governing Council of the Society. The following shall be the Members of the Governing Council:
