A brief note on DIC

The District Industries Centre(DIC) Imphal East, Porompat was established on 31.10.1997. The main objective of setting up of DIC is to provide gainful self employment opportunities to the educated unemployed youths in the small cottage industries, develop agro based and ancillary industries, improved the skilled of artisans and quality of their products, reduce the role of subsidise. The DIC envisages to function and lays down detailed guideline right from conducting techno-economic survey for preparing action plan.

 

The Staffing Pattern

There is a General Manager, the head of the DIC Office to look after the office, 5(five) Functional Managers and 3 (three) Project Managers and the Project Managers are kept flexible in view of the variation in forms of size of the district, its population and potentialities for industrial development. The number of Functional Manager could accordingly range from 4-5 and Project Manager range from 3-4 respectively. In respect of DIC Imphal East, there are 3(three) Functional Managers and 2(two) Project Managers.

1.     Functional Manager (Economic Investigation ):- The main task of the Functional Manager (EI) is to conduct
      industrial potential survey in the district. The survey report have to be periodically updated in the light of the latest
      data.
2.     Functional Manager (Credit) :- The job of the Functional Manager (Credit) is to appraise the proposals received from the entrepreneurs and  formulate the credit worthy scheme as to attract the bank and the financial institutions.
3.   Functional Manager (KVI):- The Functional Manager (KVI) has been designated specifically to look after the development activities as dealt with by the organisations concerned with Khadi and Village Industries (Handloom, Handicraft and Sericulture) etc.
4.     Project Manager (M/C) :- The principal task of Project Manager (M/C) is to help potential entrepreneurs in selection of suitable equipments and machineries for their industry and also to locate supplies both indigenous and foreign. He would maintain necessary update information on the type of machinery required for various industries.
5.     Project Manager (H/L) :- The main work of the Project Manager (H/L) to conduct the potential development in the field of Handlooms. The Project Manager (H/L) gives guidelines to the entrepreneurs (individual and societies) to improve the skilled of artisans and quality of their products .
